Buckminster Fuller was rad. The bucky fuller institute website is pretty great. there's even a review of the design and the elastic brain exhibition at moma (this looks incredible).
more space is enclosed by domes than any other style of structure in the world, with way less material. Bucky spent his whole life working on this problem of doing things in the most efficient way. He knew eventually everyone would have to deal with shortages of resources.
if you ever come across a copy of Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth you should pick it up.

A Raleigh, NC-based artist I've recently discovered, in his own words:

"I am an advocate for social change and spiritual growth in mind, body and soul.

My artwork reflects my concern for humanity’s progression by primarily using post-consumer objects and mixed media techniques, which I call “eye gumbo,” to encourage the viewer to celebrate the beauty of ordinary things, to see the world with new eyes, and to ponder their opinions on the issues presented.

Eye gumbo questions Western standards of beauty, superficial aesthetics, Old South nostalgia, black male and female identity in a consumerist culture, and the artificial social construct of racism and its impact on the human condition.

Eye gumbo is a visual meal for the mind, thickened with a roux of African American culture, marinated in social commentary and seasoned with consciousness."
